PRODUCT LISTING POLICY

1. General Requirements

  • All products must comply with applicable laws, including:

    • Consumer Protection (E-commerce) Rules 2020

    • Legal Metrology (Packaged Commodities) Rules

    • Textile (Labelling and Marking) Rules

  • Only authentic, original products are permitted. Counterfeit, replica, or “first copy” dresses are strictly prohibited.

  • Listings must not mislead customers or contain false claims.

 

2. Product Title Guidelines

  • Titles must be clear, concise, and descriptive.

  • Should include: gender, product type, style, fabric, color, key feature.

    • Example: Women’s Cotton A-Line Midi Dress – Red Floral Print

  • Avoid overuse of CAPITAL letters, symbols (!!!, ###), or irrelevant keywords.

  • Do not use competitor brand names or unrelated search keywords.

 

3. Product Description Standards

  • Mandatory details:

    • Fabric composition (e.g., 100% cotton / Polyester blend 80:20)

    • Fit type (Slim, Regular, Relaxed)

    • Length (Mini / Midi / Maxi)

    • Sleeve type (Sleeveless, Half, Full)

    • Neck type (Round, V-Neck, Collared)

    • Occasion (Casual, Party, Formal, Wedding)

    • Care instructions (Hand wash, Machine wash cold, Dry clean only)

    • Country of Origin (e.g., Made in India)

  • Optional details (recommended):

    • Stretchability, lining details, closure (zip, buttons)

    • Model size reference (e.g., Model height 5’7” wearing size M)

  • Prohibited:

    • Misleading superlatives (“World’s best dress”)

    • Incomplete details (“Good fabric” without specifying type)

 

4. Images & Media Policy

  • Number of images: Minimum 4–5 angles (front, back, side, close-up, lifestyle).

  • Quality requirements:

    • Minimum resolution: 1000x1000 px

    • White or neutral background for product images

    • Color must match actual product

  • What’s not allowed:

    • Blurry, pixelated, or heavily edited photos

    • Watermarks, text, or logos (except brand logo if required)

    • Misleading images (e.g., showing accessories not included with dress)

  • Optional:

    • Short product video (360° view or model try-on)

 

5. Pricing & Offers

  • Price must always include MRP (as per Legal Metrology).

  • Discounts must be genuine – no fake “strike-through” pricing.

  • Additional charges (delivery, taxes) must be disclosed upfront.

  • Flash sales / bundle offers must comply with platform rules and not mislead customers.

 

6. Category & Attribute Mapping

  • Dress must be listed in correct category and subcategory (e.g., Women → Dresses → Maxi Dresses).

  • Mandatory attributes to be filled:

    • Gender

    • Fabric

    • Sleeve length

    • Neckline

    • Color

    • Size availability (S, M, L, XL, etc.)

 

7. Inventory & Stock Rules

  • Sellers must update stock in real time.

  • Variants (same design in different sizes/colors) must be grouped under one parent listing (no duplicates).

  • Out-of-stock items must be marked unavailable immediately.

  • Pre-order items must clearly mention delivery timelines.

 

8. Compliance & Labeling

  • Each dress must display on product page (as per Indian rules):

    • Manufacturer/Importer/Brand name

    • MRP

    • Net quantity (1 unit, set of 2, etc.)

    • Fabric content (cotton/polyester %)

    • Wash care instructions

    • Country of origin

  • For exports: follow destination country’s textile labeling laws.

 

9. Prohibited Products

  • Counterfeit or trademark-infringing dresses.

  • Dresses with obscene/offensive prints.

  • Dresses claiming false certifications (“organic cotton” without certification).

  • Duplicate listings to manipulate ranking.

 

10. Return & Exchange Information

  • Each listing must specify:

    • Whether the product is returnable/exchangeable

    • Return window (e.g., 7/15/30 days)

    • Non-returnable items (e.g., innerwear/lingerie if applicable).

  • Refund/exchange conditions (product must be unused, tags intact).

 

11. Customer Support Transparency

  • Seller contact details (where mandated by law).

  • Grievance officer (as per Consumer Protection Ecommerce Rules).

  • FAQs on product page (size fit, delivery timelines, etc.).

 

12. Marketing & SEO Standards

  • Keywords should be relevant (fabric, style, occasion) but not spammed.

  • No misleading claims in promotions (“flat 90% off” unless genuine).

  • Influencer/affiliate promotions must disclose #Ad / Sponsored.

 

13. Periodic Review & Compliance

  • Listings must be periodically reviewed for:

    • Accuracy of descriptions and stock

    • Updated images & price corrections

    • Compliance with evolving ecommerce laws

  • Non-compliant listings may be delisted or penalized.
